The 2008 vintage was one of the most powerful vintages we have made at the Vitkin Winery and probably the most powerful vintage of the decade. If the even-numbered vintages symbolize warm and ripe vintages and the odd-numbered vintages are cooler and more elegant, the 2008 vintage produced wines that exhibit a rare combination of both worlds - strength and concentration of flavors of ripe fruit with excellent freshness and, above all, precision in the wine's balance. The 2008 vintage expresses this perfectly and is considered in our opinion one of the greatest wines created at the winery. The wine has only begun to reach its peak in the last two years and, in our opinion, will remain in an optimal drinking window for at least another six to eight years. Thanks to an amazing vintage and meticulous attention to all production processes, an extraordinary Carignan was obtained, with a deep black color, a powerful expression of more black fruit than red, pomegranate concentrate, smoked meatiness, Mediterranean herbs and an earthy character reminiscent of forest soil and mushrooms. The mouth is still tannic with a full body, layers of flavors that do not end with a long and delightful finish. The wonderful richness and freshness make it a worthy companion to dishes with high flavor intensity. With proper aging of the wine, the intensity of the experience is only expected to increase in the coming years. An experience of an extraordinary Israeli wine whose future is still ahead of it. Thanks to its extraordinary concentration, this is definitely a wine that should be opened and aerated about 12 hours before drinking.

It will go well with spicy lamb and beef dishes, especially game or duck, and strong-flavored hard cheeses.
