The Israeli Journey Series is characterized by young and tasty wines from various vineyards and grapes. The unique blends present an unusual Mediterranean combination of varieties suitable for the local cuisine, climate and Israeli character. The name of the series represents a physical journey throughout Israel's vineyards and regions with the objective sourcing unique grapes from each region to compose the final blends and produce refreshing and accessible wines that are rich in aromas and flavours. The name also represents our personal Israeli journey to create a local style of wine.
The Vitkin series is composed of varietal wines which express the special values of the winery: daring, innovation and professionalism. The majority of the varieties in the series are veterans in Israel, ones that have served at times in secondary roles behind the popular varietals. Some of them constitute “a return to the source”, to the initial varieties of grapes brought to the Holy Land by Baron Edmond de Rothschild during the renewal of the local wine industry in the 19th century. These varietals tend to be suitable for growth nationwide, from the Mediterranean climate with high humidity on the coastal plain to the cold and dry climate that characterizes the region of the Jerusalem Mountains and the Upper Galilee.
The superior flagship series of the winery Shorashim represents the essence of the Vitkin concept, generating a wine which will require aging and one that will find fulfilment at specially rare and prestigious occasions. Wines in the limited edition numbered series are produced only in exceptional vintage years from grapes with outstanding potential. The editions of this series are noted by the letters of the Hebrew alphabet א' ב' ג' and so on, with each vintage being is dedicated to someone from our family history whose life had a defining and positive impact on our own “Roots”.
